Financials

Proper stewardship of financial resources remained a key part of Indivisible Project and Indivisible Civics’ success in 2021. Our priority continues to be investing in important programmatic initiatives while maintaining sufficient resources to support the long term health of our organizations and movement.

Overview Statement

Indivisible Project and Indivisible Civics ended 2021 in healthy financial positions thanks to consistent grassroots support, strong backing from institutional donors, and careful stewardship of resources. Our financial standing allowed us to provide scaled support to our network, hold virtual trainings for thousands of activists, and push forward structural democracy reform. As we enter 2022, we’re prepared to leverage our resources to build and sustain the health of the Indivisible movement to fight for a better future and a more inclusive democracy for the long haul.

Fundraising

In 2021, Indivisible Civics’ total fundraising was just shy of $5 million, and Indivisible Project’s total fundraising was about $9.2 million (which includes about $2.6 million Employee Retention Tax Credits that Indivisible has applied for under the CARES Act). Our fundraising efforts are guided by an underlying philosophy: we are driven by small-dollar donations, meaning that small-dollar donations will always be the single largest source of funding for Indivisible; we don’t accept money from corporations or political parties; and we will decline gifts that restrict our independence or ability to pursue our strategic vision.
